I got a balsa compsand fish from shwuz a couple of weeks ago, and when i finally pulled out a poly board again, it felt sluggish, and way too heavy. I ended up hopping out of the water and going to grab the fish for the rest of the session. Uh oh…Thanks Shwuz!!! Now I can finally feel good about slimming down on my collection. WOO!!
You’re killing me here brett! I read that thread title, and was like “Oh sh*t, he has one of MY compsands! What could possibly be the problem?”. You can’t imagine the catastrophes that were whirling through my brain as I clicked this thread header!
Sounds like you have the kind of problem more folks would like to have.
Really glad you’re stoked on it, it is always good to get feedback from stoked customers. Probably more useful to get feedback from the unhappy ones, but certainly more fun to get feedback from the happy folks. I know how hard it is to buy a board sight unseen, big potentially disappointing leap of faith there, so big thank you for taking the chance on this one.
Now you know, nobody is going to believe how much fun you’re having until you supply some photographic evidence, so get some and post up!
and when you get your first ding and it ends up in the shop for a while , you will go crazy …
ive had some of the funniest things happen over the years …
wives ringing up asking me to hurry with getting there husbands board fixed , coz he is sitting around the house moping and he wont ride any of his other boards …
to guys buying exact duplicates in case something ever happens to there board and they can switch straight away …
My wife came out of the water yesterday with tears in her eyes, her favorite 5’ 11 compsand creased in the middle. She was seriously heart broken. She has her 6’5" Compsand to keep her happy until I put a new topskin on. Needless to say I know what I will be doing next week. Should be as good as new and all will be in harmony once again.
It was my second one and I do things a bit differently now so as far a durability goes am not too worried. But the surf was good sized and the board was 3.7lbs so stuff happens.
Stoked for you Brett I remember my first sessions on my Balsas and being just so stoked on surfing again.
You know, the pain of being thousands of miles away from my shaping gear, with no relief in sight, is like fine slivers of balsa under my fingernails. I’m glad I have this place and this crew to keep my stoke until I can shape again.
Hey oneula, you have any further ride reports on that board yet?
