J.A.'s Diff Gun

I’ve known this board for years now. It’s the REAL deal, and a “personal” of J.A.’s. It was made for the bay at Hanalei, and there must be something great happening for him to part with it. J.A. and Diff were good friends.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This board was shaped by Mike Diffenderfer. It was constructed in 1974 from a bundle of balsa wood at Greenroom Surfboards owned by Dennis Garrett in Kapaa, Kaui. Mike shaped this 9’ board for Jim Allen. The board and the two redwood stringers are chambered. It was glassed by Bobby Allen with two layers of 6 oz on the deck and one layer of 6oz on the bottom. The fin is a 9" all glass original that was made by Kim Harp. The nose and tail have been repaired. The deck has 3 small glass delaminations from heat in the chambers. The board is signed by Mike on the deck, right rear stringer. The signature reads JA’s personal Diff. There is also a letter of authenticity to Jim Allen from Mike when he was in Florida in 1994. Jim was there through the entire shaping and glassing process. For Sale : $8000.00

Howzit Skip, Are you sure something great is happening or something very wrong, I can’t believe JA would part with that board, it would be like selling part of his soul. Is he in some kind of financial situation that requires him to sell the board. Tell JA that Dennis " THE KID" has been coming back to Hanalei in recent years and last time I saw him he said he and his wife were thinking about moving back here. Find out if he ever got another e-mail address so I can communicate with him. Aloha, Kokua

Kokua -

No e-mail for J.A. as of yet.

How’s the house hunting going?

Aloha Mike!

howzit E-pacman, The M word, say it ain't so, JA getting married. Humm think I'd keep the board and sell the girl, just kidding. If he's tying the knot she must be one heck of a woman and I haven't got an invite, boy is he going to hear about it when I see him. Checked out the Clyde Beatty website and liked what I saw, especially the bios on the shapers. So have you totally healed up. Not looking for house yet, they are asking so much for this place that they are doing a lot of repair work and we get to stay until it's sold, then I'll start looking or might buy on big island. Trump says that's the new hot spot for real estate,ha,ha. Skip would it be OK to contact him through the Beatty website Aloha,Kokua

Kokua - I’ll send you a contact e-mail that will get to him.

As for the “M” word, let’s call it a guess, we better not spread it around.
