Long time Orange County sander, and Movie Star, Jack Sedivec died of a heart attack, his services were this morning at Calvary Chapel in Capistrano Beach. Jack was one of the happiest easiest going people I ever got to know, and loved his job sanding surfboards. I remember when he’d sand 18- 20 boards a day, and all to a high quality. An infectious smile, and a cheery attitude, even in the toughest afternoon Lower’s line-ups, Jack always made time to talk about what he loved, surfboards, and designs. I miss him already.
I have been thinking about Jack, all day. He liked to talk about his 2 favorite spots, Hanalei, and Lowers. He used to have pictures of them in his sanding rooms, at wherever he was sanding. He was the kind of guy that had more energy at the end of the day than the beginning. He used to be an afternoon regular at Lower’s when Cordell was still in diapers. About 30 years ago Rick Plescia used to rib him all the time about his funny side; those were some fun days. The best stories I can’t even begin to tell you, because I have that much respect for the man, and it sucks that I can’t.
