Saw your name up,and thought I’d say, “HI” and wish you a great 07 !
BTW, I was talking to a friend about new construction for surfies and told him about your Kevlar glassed boards…
He asked if they were really that strong…I told him about how you threw one across the factory and it’s abrupt landing. The only thing we could find was a few light scratches.
That was so far ahead of it time it’s not funny,You’re The Man , Jerry !
Lot’s of people benefit from the tips, you have handed down to me back then.
You have a good one !
ps…How’s the fishing in your parts ? I love to fish !!! More so than anything ! Herb
Thanks Herb, A lot of R+D went into those boards. Guys were always stopping by the shop to see what was up. With the crazies I had working for me believe me it was nuts. When I glassed those boards I had to lock myself in the laminating room so nobody could see how they went together. I use to throw those boards all the time but the ultimate was when some guys flew in from Japan to do some business and I just had to show them what was new. I chucked one off the roof of the building which was about 25ft high. It bounced across the asphalt parking lot. The look on their faces was totally worth it.
We wanted to see just how strong the Kevlar was so we took a couple of reject blanks and nailed two layers on them. One the my guys had an old style 45cal Tommy gun, ya know the kind you see in the old time movies, he brought it to work and we shot at them in the back of the shop. The bullets blew into the second blank in a Kevlar pocket but never went all the way through. Crazy you bet!!! Jerry PS: Fishing is always good in the Great Northwest
I always thought I was the person that was.“Out of the Box” until I met you guys. You were my inspiration…especially for my quads back then,
Now…
Quads are the NEW ! Rage !..LOL !
Listen up sways folks,Jerry can give alot of insight here, more than we’ll ever know,so give him some room and he’ll show you not only how it’s done ,but 99 versions of it.
Thanks again Jerry…Hopefully one day soon, we can meet-up again ! Herb
Welcome to Sways. I checked out your site and like what I saw and sent my contact info. I am in the market for quality pads now. I am also in the market for a really nice 6" soft pad for my air DA sander. Any suggestions?
The 6" DA Flexpad is in the works now. As you know, the pad has to run close to the machine because of the way it’s used. Plus it has to be strong, as it runs at a high RPM level with lots of flexing. So to make a real soft one presents different problems. Not to worry! I’m working on it. You could use a 6" Soft Flexpad with an adapter to reduce it to fit, but it puts the cutting edge to far away from the machine and it feels weird when you sand. Jerry
