An ambitious project there! You may well be on to something with that. Michael (surfding) has some good posts with something similar - a combi of EPS and XPS foams to tune flex and feel.
For myself, I seem to have plenty of trouble getting a blank smooth without additional glue lines and density variations. With a steady hand and good eye you should be able to make it work.
yea where he is there is earlier attempts by peter and myself we moved into another universe from there’’
**a t one point dan could have gotten a lot from me when we were on compsand **
COMPOSIT DUAL DENSITY Blanks in Australia **this is when we went past the barrier and we have mny testaments to how the blanks performed unfortunately the G F C killed it **
Right around 1960, or 1961, Walker Foam did a run of blanks with both colored and white foam, that were pieced up in various patterns. And the foam was of variable densities. A number of manufactures made boards, using those composit blanks. Most memorable, to me, were several guns that were made by Gordie (Gordon Duane). One of which went to Jim Fisher, an early 50's big wave pioneer, that was a ''regular'' at WindanSea. This ''tech'' has been around for many years, both in concept, and in practice. Seems to me that Geo Foam is being hypersensitive. Threatening a Swalock forum member for talking about the concept??? Real smart public relations, eh? I for one, would never use their products, because of their heavy handed tactics on display here. Like many, they seem to lurk here, but bring little if anything to the table. Actually comical, trying to ''protect'' something that has been around for over a half century!
Sorry I missed this. I've been building multi-density blanks for a while now. GL first showed me how about 10 years ago. And Bert at Sunova has been doing it forever. Drew in St. Augustine showed us all how. Who was the company out of NC that used to sell them but went out of business?
If I was going to spend money on a tricked out blank, it would likely be the iFoam stuff from US Blanks.
I'll put up a picture of mine as soon as I find one. Anyone else?
No refernce on the site to a patent it says patent pending ? The only thing claiming to be patented on the is blanks made from different coloured foam which certainly isn't new.
Haven't surfboard blanks always been multi density pu hard on the outside soft in the middle.
The whole wmd thread is about dual density blanks.
Theres a number of threads on here about blanks useing layers of different densitys of eps. I think some may be yours Foam hack.
Unless you have made a blank out of hexagon shaped bits of eps and are trying to sell it how can they complain?
geo blanks where is your patent? What have you patented? And what countrys have you patented it in?
I am also curious if there are issues with fin plug failure dings or rail cancer useing 1.5lb eps in the tail?
and I infringing is I go cut pentagon shaped bits of eps and stick them together.
