On the back cover of the new Longboard Magazine, there is a black and white photo of a chambered balsa section. Is that you w/ the blue eyes? If so, at $10,000.00, I hope your the one making the big dough. As far as the woodworking portion of your work goes, what is your tooling? Bandsaw?

You got it right, it’s my workmanship,I get paid fairly for my craft, but also don’t have the investment of labor, materials, overhead and advertizing. Evolution is looking for the “Discriminating Customer”, who has the ka-ching for one of a kind functional art. When it comes to the actual tooling, it involves thickness planer, jointer, bandsaw, router, drill press and other hand tools that I have customized for chambering. I piss of the other shapers around me when I start these projects, they don’t have the tools and the noise drives them crazy. “He gets the prestigious jobs” My moto, “Do a good job and we’ll have you back next monday” simple as that… I had to proof read this about 6 times, don’t want 4th grade Coral red penciling it. Goof think, founf a spilling errer.
I was curious as to your tools because not many shapers ,that I know, have a complete woodworking shop. I see guys w/ bandsaws and planners mostly. My curiosity stems from admiration. I’m collection information from various sources as to what techniques work, and what gets by. I sure would like to check you out sometime , maybe put a face w/ a name. I don’t get out of town much. I’m with you on the Coral concern. I’m always looking over my shoulder.
which Longboarder mag? the summer photo special, or is there a newer one out?
