Got the video today. Good stuff, great tools. Thanks for putting it out there for us.

Got the video today. Good stuff, great tools. Thanks for putting it out > there for us. I’m glad you’ve gotten what you expected, but I am only a small part of the effort that it took to do this video, had it been left up to me, it would still be in the dreaming stage. Matt at Damascus is who really deserves lots more credit than you all know. He went in way over budget trying to get the DVD out first, feeling it would be a more professional version, but all of you that got to preview the VHS thought it more than filled the bill. Thanks to all of you that waited, Jim

yes, but like many others you coulda kept it all to yourself.

I’ve gone through my VHS copy for the third time. Each and every time there is another nugget of useful info that I missed the first time. I really can’t say enough about what a great teaching tool the Damascus Master Shaper Series has been. Jim is not only a very fine craftsman, he is an outstanding teacher. His methods and dialogue are in perfect sync throughout this instructional shaping video. Good job Jim and many thanks for the time it took out of your daily schedule to share some hard earned skills. Matt with Damascus deserves equal credit too. This is going to go down as a one of a kind glimpse at a very specialized part of surfboard building. The camera work and quality of this production is right on, no small task when you are trying to demonstrate shaping technique with subtle contours on a foam blank. I hope the demand for the shaping video is successful enough for him to continue on with the glassing segment. You guys get two thumbs up from this customer. Tom S.>>> Got the video today. yes, but like many others you coulda kept it all to yourself. The tape is so detailed that when you first see it you tend to get intimidated by all of the info presented…you cannot get it on one play. That is where the rewind button becomes a tool in itself.Another cool thing is that the film wasn’t scripted or staged…it just documents a few days in the life of a master shaper doing his thing.

I plan to get the tape eventually from all the positive feedback I’ve been reading about. I just had some kind if thing that hit me though, like there is some kind of connection between the Swaylock community and the creation of the tape. Like there couldnt have been one without the other…some cosmic connection…Just a ramblin…Good luck to Damascus, I hope this endeavor turns out to be profitable for you, and to J. Phillips for unselfishly passing on knowlegde that is held so secretive by others in the craft. FD

…Wanna trade a copy for some Fcs fins?..just kidding, can wait to see it!Herb

thank you jim. the video is def. a prize piece. thanks for sharing your > knowledge. when can we expect the glassing vid? how many more do you have > planned? We tentively have the glassing segments scheduled to begin in the end of September or early October. There is plans for an advanced shaping, with it detailing how to make the COMPLETE shape, from raw uncut blank, to laying out rocker, choosing wood and how to turn it into stringers. The gluing of blanks, more shaping, nose and tailblocks and if you’re really into creating that classic board, wood fins. If there is a demand for this FIRST video, then this will decide how many more there are. For the piece de le resitance, The building of wood boards and on this one we just might have to include professor Paul.
