I noticed in the archives that everyone was asking about the Joel Tudor Surfboards. This is a link to a Japanese website that I found. http://www.seedling-net.com/
I stop by the Big Yank surf shop in San Francisco today to pick up some wax. Like always, I checked out the boards and noticed they have 4 new Joel Tudor boards. All where way over priced, but they had a 9’2’’ Papa Joe Model with a beautiful purple resin tint and white pin line. http://www.seedling-net.com/

Overpriced?, but you’ll spend more on a snowboard that is punched out in Taiwan completely by machine. Bill Shrosbee, shaper, 40 years. Steve Williams, glasser, 25 years. Eddie Hagan, sander, 25 years. Tom Cervantes, pinline/art, 35 years. Brian Johnson, glosser/polisher, 30 years. Do the absolute top craftsmen in the surfing industry deserve to be paid sweatshop wages for their expertice. I wish all bonified manufacturers could get what a hand made product is worth. Surfboards are the only handmade item that are so undervalued as to the cost of materials and to the creative spirit that goes into them. Think of the most minor body repair on your car? It far out strips the cost of a new Tudor, Evolution, Tyler, etc.
Wow Jim, I didn’t mean to offend you or others by saying the boards were “overpriced”. I just know that $800-$850 is way more then I can afford. That’s $200 more then what I pay. And I get boards that have volan, resin tints, and pin lines and they come out looking the same as Joel’s boards. That just leads me to think that your paying for the name. —Mikey

JOEL’S PAYING FOR A SWEET SUV AND A DEL MAR HEIGHTS PAD. GO TO BILL SHROSBEE/SHAPER AND GET IT DIRECT WITHOUT THE RIPOFF SEVENTIES LAMINATE.
Mikey, or learn how, and try to duplicate one yourself, just the way you like it. you may spend 150 - 200 in materials, and then you can give us your impression of what the “sweat equity” would be.
