John I remember you posted a photo of the block plane foam curls
I’v searched the archives and found alot of info but was wondering what plane you recommend for skinning and shaping.
I’m getting ready to do #001 and will be doing it without electricty.
thanks
Any old plane will do as long as it’s sharp and set properly. I think I’m using a low angle Stanley in photos. With a sharp blade, shallow setting and the right angle, foam kind of peels off in curls. Soft density foam sometimes rips a bit. Surform and coarse sanding block to follow, then screen on soft upholstery foam to get scratches out.
thanks John! just the photo I remembered.
