hi i have shaped a fish with the dimensions 6’, 16’‘, 21’‘, 16’‘, 3’’ it has 2 keels which i have made that are 4 inches deep and 6 inches long. how far from the rails and how far back toward to tail should i go? i want it as fast as possible without spinning out every turn i make.
My keels are a bit deeper than yours, but here’s what I place them. I put the rear edge 6 1/2 inches from the end or in line with the top of the butt crack. I never let the leading edge exceed 15 inches from the tail. I line the fins up with the tip which is usually about 1 1/4 inches from the rail. If single foiled I toe them in 1/8 inch and cant them 2-3 degrees. Double foiled, no toe-in and no cant. There is lots of numbers for this in the archives from builder with way more experience than me. Check it out. Mike
