Would someone kick his ass. Please!
he deserves it. i think his career has been a beautiful journey to follow. the guy is thirty-six years old. he’s pure inspiration in a world where companies are throwing six figures at fifteen year olds. good on him.
has anyone ever seen him hang 10 ?
NOPE
his good and all…great inspiration… I do envy him for his surfing skills but I wish he was a longboarder , it could be interesting
btw, Kelly
congrat’s for the 9th … going for a 10th?
his younger brother rides a longboard very well.

I think it’s great to behold someone who has so perfected their craft that they are on a fairly consistent basis…unbeatable. Slater have perfected pointed nose thruster surfing in contest like few ever have or ever will again.
Good one for Slater.
BTW: If you saw him surf a longboard, you might be shocked at his talent there as well.
Kelly demoralizes his competition with his intense focus and determination. He simply wants it more than anyone else
and has the confidence and ability to turn up the wick anytime he wants. When he does, there’s just nobody that can
touch him.
Congrats, KS.
thank heavens that’s been decided.
thank jupiter there are some about
who so deeply care to organise
and implement rules by which to judge
such events to raise the proverb bar
high enough for the world to see
a measurable credibility
beyond existential bohemian
zen unmeasurables…
so that we are free to persue
that broke ass beach combing
Ideal set forth by aboriginal
coastal cultures dating back
to the dawn of time unfettered
by concern for such things
as photo shoots
and all the trappings
taken for granted
to achieve otherwise.
…ambrose…
may the laurel wreath never wilt and dry.
may that niche become so tightly packed
other niches become completely vacant.
see you in the spaces between the dots
where we will dwell at ease.

YOU CAN’T!! IT’S OUR BIG AMERICAN PENIUESIESS GETTING THE WAY AGAIN!!
AM I YELLING? YES. ALL AMERICANS ARE BIG, LOUD,AND OBNOXIOUS!!!
who’s Kelly Slater???
It would be interesting to see him win 10 world titles, retire from the WCT then go on and win a world longboard title…

I ALWAYS LOVE RESIN HEADS COMMENTS!
Go Resinhead…you are an honorary Aussie with your tongue-in-cheek attitude to your countrymen…
Kelly would best leave it a while before winning the longboard title, at least long enough to get a big grey beard like John Peck…because, frankly, its getting boring seeing him win.
So, if the delay before taking the winners podium as a longboarder was long enough to be a legitimate Rocky-style comeback, the story would be so much more Hollywood-worthy.
Pammy stars as…well…Pammy. Mick Nolte as Al Merrick. Or something.

Every PRO(?) Surfer in the world should go back to their rooms and just lock the door andnever come out again!—how can they call themselfs pros when they can’t take down a 36! years guy??? the level of pro surfing is so far down the hopper/duney/tolet/whatever it’s a disgrase…Bring back teh days of Bustin’ down the door—at least then you never really knew who would win…

I think that’s what AI already did.
JEEZ walrus .. down the toilet? give me a break .... kelly is the most exciting surfer to watch at this moment, period..
There are a lot of valid reasons to be critical of the business of surfing as it is presented in professional contests.
If you focus only on the level and skill of surfing by the pro surfers, however, it is mind boggling how good they are and how far they have taken the performance level of surfing from even five years ago. It is only after you really consider and understand how high the level of surfing is for these pros that you can get the full perspective of Slater’s accomplishment . . . to actually make the rest of the best surfers in the world look slow by comparison.
It would be interesting to see him win 10 world titles, retire from the WCT then go on and win a world longboard title…
And the world single fin title…twin fin title and hybird title…Oh wait…we don’t have those yet.
I’m not talking about kelly, but the other wanta-beeees who can’t step up to his level—if your a PRO your good at what you do…well?
Whats not to like about Slater and his achievements.
Grew up rough with an alcoholic father, ended the careers of a whole generation of pros, changed surfing and surfboard design singlehandedly.
Biggest performance leap in modern history after Greenough.
Thrilled fans with the greatest rivalry since MR and Cheyne (Andy Irons).
Destroyed Andy Irons as a competitor and threat.
Now facing up to a new generation in Dane and Jordy and still producing the greatest surfing on the planet.
The guys the real deal and a phenomena on so many levels.
Intelligent, humble and articulate.
The tour will struggle for credibility if he retires next year.
Belongs in the pantheon of the very greatest sporting heroes.
He was so far ahead of the pack this year it was a joke…it’s hard to see any real competitor stepping up next year…Slater has that effect on people …they just give up.
congrats on number 9 Mr Slater.
If he was an Aussie we’d have him Prime Minister by now.

Well stated, Lennox. I really enjoy watching Kelly (and the other pros) when the waves aren’t especially good. Mushy, semichoppy surf shows off their real talents, in my opinion, more than in perfect conditions. Slater in particular makes mushy surf look good.
