KevBoo SUP

You are write, I dont read or right GOOD at all.

Mr J, I was afraid someone would say that…

I’m going to try out a couple more test panels before doing the final lam over the paint

to see what effect, if any, some sanding has.

I called Fiberglass Supply and they indicated that Kevlar is UV sensitive, but that

it’s not breaking down any faster than the epoxy would.

Plus, with the paint behaving the way it is, I’m sanding it off, laminating the outer

layer of fiberglass using the new blue RR and hoping that the exposure is the

lesser of two evils.

At least that’s better than having a circumferential delam risk, I reckon…

outer lams are done.

I realized the 4oz I had wasn’t wide enough, so I used my 36" wide 2.7 oz cloth

bottom:

foam | 4oz | bamboo veneer | 2.7oz | 2.7oz

top:

foam | 4oz | bamboo veneer | bamboo veneer | 2.7oz | 4oz patch (about 7’ long)

doing some fill coat and sanding today.

boxes and plugs for tie downs tomorrow.

I made a compromise…I started sanding and the high spots in the kevlar began

to show through the paint…I really liked the way it looked, so I did the whole

rail that way, knocking it all down and creating a funny primer/cheetah pattern.

Looks good. In the photo it looks like abalone on the rails…

Saturday local, see what it looks like…Sunday road trip?

Sunday, yes, but have brunch at the Smokehouse at 11:30 or 12:30…

may have to drive separate so I can hope over to the valley unless we

get back home early enough for me to turn around and drive back north.

Saturday jetting up to surf with Sr. Pato, eat some epic tacos and then

get some foam cut by Spence.

You can roll up with me Saturday, but I don’t expect to be getting back

to sobay until after 1 or 2pm.

how far north are you going to come this weekend… you should come up to my neck of the woods. I really like the outline on that btw.

bump…

sweet project!

oh, those were the goold ol’ days!

i miss your build / how-to threads… usually learned something from them and they were always entertaining

this was indeed a god one.  Get busy afoaf.  Do something else.
