Most of you guys commenting have never surfed with Herb:
a few notes here…
He is generous to a fault; at our favorite rivermouth he has given me more than a few waves and hooted as I dropped in…
He has shared info in and out of the water for whoever asked…
He made sure that warnings were posted when the water was poluted…
He has made boards for people who might not appreciate it…
Besides me he is one of the few people who can call Slugo by his Christian name…

cool cool, because of swaylocks, I know which end of the surfboard goes forward. Actually its helped me tons in both surfing and learning about surfboards.
Its too bad old bert wasnt around anymore… I took alot in from his posts… between him and kokua I think i pulled the most info that I know from those two. I lurk around the forums everyday but I dont have as much knowledge to contribute as the rest of you all.

You are constantly pushing the inovation envelope and that is a sign of a great man. I am going to be on the mainland in July and August and would like to meet up but my plate is very full and will be traveling through 4 states and may not be able to make it to your area but if I can I will. I’ll second that John… just sitting there listening to Herb at Big Sur was an event in itself… he’s even known over at MagicSeaweed as a ‘person worth listening to’… and when you see the B/s we write over there you know that that’s a real compliment!!!
