and from burbank there came an iconic life form.
its capacity for rapid oil changes and otherwise
painless auto underbody inspections
came to pass. The ease of lateral direction change
was gone, but the light at the end of the tunnel
illuminating summer luge cracked on like august

unautorized history of the world
Harpo was the prince of the coffin at a hanalei…usually after dark, the nose tweak was the order of the day in daylight…Alex Dias was the king of the coffin they called him dracula at the huntington contest ,he wore a full wetsuit, and made the finals with Kit Horn more than once…they were really old in 1965…maybe as old as us now…
there is so much more than three dimensions to this
,I quessted the 57 varieties at one time
[paying homge to canned goods],
theester williams,
reverse,
turn signal leg dip,
right and left
bottom turn coffin
cut back coffin
big wave coffin
tiny tweedle wave coffin
double leg lift coffin stall
parachute stall coffin[best done with speedos on under trunks to preserve modesty]
rail release over with the lip coffin
Dying cockroach [multi colors availiable]
aw gee one can get tired
of standing up and postureing
a finely executed coffin take off followed by a coffin bottom turn…and trim behind the guy that took off in front of me and to finally straighten off as the wave closed out to the bowl and finger tip tweedle waving to the guy as he looked left to see I was trailing him so closly and all on my back is my cherished memory of the hanalei coffin…oh yea it was not small…I was so much older then I’m younger than that now…are you talking about higher coffin studies?

I feel need , the need for SPEED!!!
due to his age and deteriorating knees, that’s how he surfs now…at his age it’s best not to bring up such terms as terminate, die hard, COFFIN, etc.to his credit, he IS stylin’ all the way thru…KP style…
I’d like to see a Putnam thread; rich in history, colorful characters, board evolution and design. There may not be another person in Southern California so entrenched in surfing history as Kirk( well, there are a few). Photos, video? I know one crazy person that will back me up. Lend him a dig cam to log his quiver, please…at an undisclosed location.
The Underground lives!
I agree with Matt....he is gettin old, but not too old to display that quiver and tell a few lies!!

it seems no matter where ya go, car show, surf shop, art exhibit, bluegrass festival, etc. Kp is somehow connected to the significant folks in each arena. it is almost comical how connected he is…
Kirk knows Zelig.
they went to school with Forest Gump.
or so I have heard.

mebe we should run 'im for office
I too would like to see that and if needed can pry some stories from CR Stecyk that I’m sure will entertain and educate (or Mr. Putnam could send me a bag or low denomination unmarked bills and we’ll forget it all!)
Correction:

sometimes I get it wrong…
CRS lll and I have the good the bad and ugly on each other . I do have a stash of small unmarked bills just in case . New camara comin soon. Im now in the process of perfecting the coffin on my mat. How would it be to take a run on that Olympic track, think there pullin a few Gs.

When he was up here, on the far northern edge of the USA, out in the line-up he was doing just that…Laughing…Chatting it up…Sharing stories of connected friends…Amazing…!!!..
His campfire stories at Plaskett are legend! Remember the “6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon” game? There are only 2 degrees of separation with KP. I’m more surprised by the people he doesn’t know than the people he does…
Sonny Castagnola heard your name mentioned and said “easy money”.
