I have a friend who lives up on the cliff at Pleasure Point, and he regularly mat surfs there. He likes to go out when the break is less crowded because of being choppy/ledgy… he takes off far outside, connecting the sections, accelerating completely through, riding for nearly a mile. He wears a helmet (Gath) because of all the drop-ins he outruns.
My goodness, was it that big today? I must have checked it during a typical South Swell in Santa Cruz lull. I guess I should have waited longer.
