I know this should be posted on another thread, but thought this would get better response if I did it here.
As the SA 2005 event approaches, I would like to make available to the folks attending the event a Segway Composites KOLSTOF surfboard to try out. Assuming the board survives the waves and “testing”, my intent is to then have the board auctioned off, preferably on Swaylocks, with all the proceeds going to the Swaylocks Forum. My thinking was that it would get better response, and a higher selling price, thus more $$$ for Swaylocks!
I just felt we all owe this forum some financial support, and this was just one way for me to do just that. Soooo when the board is auctioned off, remember the proceeds go to this forum!
I am in the process of building the board and should have it complete late next week. Only problem I have is that I am not attending the event, and need someone to take the board up there and be the custodian of the board.
If someone has a better idea or suggestion, please let me know!!!
If you are interested and can help, please either give me a call or PM.
I myself won’t be able to attend SA 2005, but can get the board from Ken and hook up with an approved courier in Long Beach/Orange County area. I’m near the 405 and 605, but can meet wherever is more convenient.
If no one is up for that, I would be willing to contribute by getting it up to 4est. Whatever Ken would prefer done. Gil
Sorry you can't make the trip either. Hope those that do have a great time! I appreciate your offer to take the board up to 4est, and maybe I'll take you up on the offer. I better get busy if I'm going to have the board done in time.....Back to work!
I build them all with the natural carbon showing on the bottom. Carbon on top looks awesome, but can get a bit warm…got any high temp. wax? Those that have the carbon tops love them, but does take a little more effort…
I’m not going to be able to attend the Swaylock 2005 Campout. It’s not that I didn’t try… but, I’m going to the North Shore for a few days 20-23 to visit a buddy. Anyway, I would like to bid on that bad baby, you got any specs on that carbon aluminiuminiun spear. And I vote for Black, or Black and dark Grey.
we are leaving from mira mesa in a van with lots of board storage if that helps any in the board transportation field. I dont even know where rancho cucamong is but i figured i would offer our services. Darren
Big Sur or North Shore…hummmm… cant fault you on your choice. Thanks for your support on the Swaylocks auction and fundraising. Hopefully, everyone will be a winner on this one! The stats on the KOLSTOF short board is: 6’ 0" long, 2-1/4" thick, 19-7/8 wide, and just under 6 lbs.
I find it interesting that carbon black seems to be the direction folks are leaning. I think the carbon has a great “WOW” factor!
Well…The board is done! The whole board is carbon fabric (2 X 2 twill) black as suggested. I have a few little things still to do, like vent plug and leash plug, but very minor. I think I will probably take 4-est up on his offer to take the board to Big Sur. Just need to know when to get it to you…
