l have put most of the basic plans on my site, you should be able to get an idea of what to do from these, my trimmer plans are also there now and how to make the timber curves. If you have a questions l am only to pleased to help out, good luck if you intend to make one and you wont look back if you do. l have got more consistancy out of my machine than any of the CNC plugs that l have shaped, it is cheap to build at around $1500 AUD if you do it yourself and it is a great way to learn more about the curves that you ride. thanks so much…how much was your custom cutter? where can i get one? i’m tired of using my jigsaw…
thank you very much…KR. it´s a good starting point
Hey Teddy, the cutter itself cost me $80 aud and l got it from a tool sharpening place that make their own cutters, they didn’t like making it so long but l just told them it was only going to cut foam and they agreed, so l got two, you can easily cut 4000 boards before you need to get it sharpened again. The jig l made was basically out of scrap that l had lying around the factory(m.d.f.,2mm pvc, laminate to help it slide on the foam)the trimmer is a makita and it has been going strong without any servicing for 8 years now. The adjustable base on the trimmer can slide right off and l attatched the jig to it with screws. It is really simple but very effective, the hardest part is making sure that you have the guide, blade and trailer lined up and as with nnything a little time to get used to it.
