Ive searched the archives and have learned that you can use waterbased acrylic paint over the hotcoat so is this the right stuff to get?: http://www.krylon.com/products/h2o_latex. I just want to buy the right stuff and I plan on doing a cleay acrylic spray over. ( brands anyone?) Thanks for the help.
bump anybody? I searched archive for 2 hrs yesterday and couldnt find anything in particualr about this sutff on hotcoat.
Hi snap10,
I’ve never used this product with latex. I’ve used Krylon clear acrylic spray paint a bunch, though. I would not use an acrylic with latex for fear the latex would get rubbery in cold water. You could always spray a small corner and see what happens. Mike
So the krylon stuff only comes in clear without latex? I take that any spray paint would work if you put clear acrylic over it?
hey snap10
I onced used an H2o paint on sand coat epoxy then another epoxy coat for gloss over it I was useing RR epoxy (not that it matters)
results were
the gloss coat on top wouldnt take to it too kindly, lots of splits and fisheyes, I had to let it get partialy cured and baste another coat to fill in.
also, any dings on the board would separate the paint from the sand coat, also got some separation around the fin boxes
my advice is to use an epoxy base paint and keep your media the same
