Laminating decals Epson C80

I read a few threads on home decal printing and so far I’ve tracked down an Epson C80 (I’ve heard the durabrite ink is the way to go to reduce UV degradation). I’ve printed a few decals on a fairly heavy rice paper and the quality is good (used the matte/ thick paper function) and it printed fine by itself. I’m just about to do a test to see if it bleeds… I’m just inquiring about any heads up for problems encountered or if someone out there uses the Epson C80 and were the results good. Thanks Canuk

Actually I have problem with setup my C80. I use heavy silkpan… printing is ok but when I lam… or i have bubble or the color bleed. http://www.theglasser.com

Howzit canuk, The C-80 was the first of the epson printers with durabrite ink but it had some problems with ink leakage. The C-82 is an upgrade and now they have the C-84. I had a C-80 and it died from the ink leakage after 1 1/2 yrs. Got a C-82 and it doesn’t have a leakage problem but I’m wondering what improvement they did to the C-84. You should be able to pick up a C-84 for about $80.00. Spend the money for a new one,it’s worth it. Aloha, Kokua

Howzit Glasser, Use less ink in the print and cut the paper as close as possible to the printed lam before laying up. The ink only bleeds to the edge of the paper and that’s why I advise cutting close to the printed area. But I’m not familiar with silkspan so that could be part of the problem. Aloha, Kokua
