Whats the theory behind laminating resin, why isn’t sanding resin used exclusively. …compliance, adhesion? While Im at it, how much sanding agent (styrene wax?) do I need to convert Lam. Resin.
sanding has wax. you must sand all the wax off before you can put more resin on it or the next coat won’t stick. when you first wet out the cloth the resin is used to bond the cloth to the foam and will not (shouldn’t) be thick enough to fill and conceal the weave. if it is sanded you’ll surely sand and cut into the cloth, NOT GOOD. lam doesn’t need any prep (sanding) to accept successive coats of resin including but not limited to sanding resin which is used to fill the weave(finish/fill coat). you can absolutly use sanding resin for everything, if you can apply second coat within an hour or so, the wax from the first coat will rise to the surface of the next. NOT RECOMMENDED!
