I have one small bubble about a 1/4 inch around in the butt crack of the swallow tail after laminating. At least I am down to only one bubble. It is sealed and has cloth over it. However, it is bothering me even though it is only a cosmetic flaw. Has anyone ever used a syringe and needle to fill a bubble of this kind up with lam resign in order to do away with a cosmetic flaw? Or is the best way to fix it to pop the bubble and then to fill it as I have been doing? How would you fix it? Thanks for all of your help.
Icarus,
I’ve done a bunch of these. I’m the world’s worst laminator. I cut them out and treat them as ding repairs. Experts probably have better, less aggressive method.Mike
Drill two tiny holes and syringe it (resin in, air out). I’ve done it heaps, good, simple, works.
Right on ics, I’m a perfectionist too, both methods yo discribed will work, the syringe is easier to fill the air caverty, remenber to make 2 small holes one for the resin to go in and on on the oposite site of the bubble for the air to come out of. it will leave the bump a bit raised but the HC will sort that out. makinf a patch is more work but will leave it flush. what ever works for you.
edit: Wildy - While I was typing this you beat me to the punch, but its good that we both agree on the same thing,
I tried the drill and syringe method yesterday and it worked great. It definitely makes for a cleaner fix. Thanks for all the help guys.
