if the blobs are resin or color, and are on the rails or in the area where your deck cloth will lap over them, they should be taken down before you laminate your deck cloth over them. reason is, you will sand thru them after lamination and sand thru the deck lam as well. technically, no matter where the blobs are, they should be taken down prior to sanding.
The deck lam is done, and its a different story. I used the same bucket as I did for the bottom deck and I had washed it out and everything was fine but then when I poured the resin there were light red blobs everywhere on the back half of the board. Also I got a pretty sizeable airbubble in the back of it. Its about 5 inches long by 1 inches wide. I need to cut this out. My question is that when I do the hotcoat can I mix in some color for the deck hotcoat or will that not work? Also I know I have asked this before but I am going to ask again, what should I do about the box fin, should I find someone with a router, or take a box knife or what? Also my parents banned me from ever making a surfboard in the back alley so I think next time I am going to use eps. Will epoxy resin be better for mess wise than poly resin?
…yes you need a router cause with the knife you cant cut the stringer…
…you have those bubbles cause you didnt flat well the cloth when dry and then when you had been using the squeegee, you didnt apply the necessary fpressure to get rid of the unwanted air bubbles and resin excess…
Hellooooooo everybody, so i wasnt happy with the way the deck lam came out so I stripped the glass, I couldnt get a few pieces of glass off the blank, any suggestions? also is it possible to rent a rounter I dont know anyone who has one
