Late season bamboo.

7 4 deck

7 4 outlinerocker

Sorry about the picture quality, it was a bit too bright.

Late season project.  7’4" x 18 3/4" x 2 1/2".  1.9 lb. Marko blank bamboo veneer bagged with RR epoxy.  6 bot. 4 under/veneer/4 over deck.  3M auto pin tape.

Thanks again Greg these are fun to make.

Awesome! Looks beautiful!

How much?

Beautiful

Nice looking work! You and Bud are getting too good to be backyarders, lol.

Do I detect a small stringer peeking out at tips? (no bottom shot, so it's hard to tell..)

so clean!

Brian, let’s see some of your late models.  thx

Thanks for the compliments!  Yes Mike this is a stringered blank.  It’s easier for me to build them with the stringer but if I did them for myself and really wanted to tune the ride I’m pretty sure that I’d increase the shell strength and take out the stringer.  I can’t seem to break my poly addiction.

Also no bamboo on the bottom. I was surprised how light it came out, lighter than a 6 bot. 6/6 deck glass only board.

Greg Loehr really opened the trick and tip vault on these boards.

Honolulu, pm if you want a price.  It depends on what you want.  This board is for a shop here on Kauai.  Board would be a good travel board for a smaller rider looking for a gun.

DMP, I just realized how rude I sounded.

I really did intend to compliment you on the board.  That should have the first thing I noted.
Isn’t that auto tape trick handy?

No worries,

I never took it as being rude.

The striping tape is nice, such a cheat.  Although laying tape is easier.  The pinline stuff is a bit tricky.

7 6 QuadBottom

Rocker

Sorry this one is super bad.  Couldn’t get the glare out.

The is one for me.  Just a few weeks late at the end of winter.  Can’t wait to ride it!

7’6" x 19 1/8" x 2 13/16" Surfblanks green with uv poly.

Got to make some kind of logo straightener.  Can never get those things to line up.

the dims on that one look even better…

what’r your dims DMP if you don’t mind me askin’?

 nice looking boards d m p

cheers huie

Very impressive work. Beautiful boards. Ride reports with Photos would be nice.

I’m 47 x 6’3" x 195 x 32 waist.  This one is for bigger Hanalei 8’-10’.  If it starts to get more hollow I have larger boards.

nice work with the bamboo, dmp!

btw how come you didn’t use it on the rails where it’s needed most? would’ve made it ding-proof IMO

cheers,

I agree the bamboo should go further towards the rail edge.  Stronger cleaner application of the material.

This was a project board that sat in my shop for close to a year gathering dust and dings from my rocker stick.  The last piece of bamboo I had was only just that wide.  In retrospect I should have split the bamboo down the middle and made panels.  Bamboo closer to the rail edge and a scrap racing strip of bamboo in the middle.  A 6/4 overlap of glass on the rail on eps is pretty minimal.

I hadn’t done a bagged board in over a year and this was a quick warm up for a 9’ SUP thats next.  I can’t wait to see how little resin I’m going to need to do the sup.  Those SUPs are monsters of resin use.

Thanks for the compliment Huie.  Still really enjoying the Aussie foam with the UV resin!

I get cocky in the shaping bay sometimes and start for the camera to take close up pictures and then those images of your perfectly finished shapes pop into my head.  I’ve been forcing myself to use the planer more and to be more efficient in my steps, especially with my personnal ones.  Sometimes it goes like butter other times its like shoveling gravel.
