Latest board completed

Just completed my most recent board. Used RR epoxy and yellow tint, one layer six ounce on the bottom and two layers six ounce on the deck with a deck and tail patch. The dimensions ended up as 9’10" x 16.5 x 22.5 x 14.5 x 3".

I did the laminate and hotcoats about a week ago and the gloss yesterday. How long should I let it cure before riding it?

Rick

Probably depends on what size waves you’re gonna ride it in.

How 'bout heat cycling it before you take it out? Supposedly some significant benefits to that.

Waves are small 2 to 3 feet. What do you mean by “heat cycling”, how is that done?

nice board R and R !

Interesting tail .

Did you do cutlaps on the rails?

What fin setup did you go with …

single ?

“2 + 1” option [plugs?]

thruster ?

back fin box ?

…cheers !

Thanks Ben, As for the tail - it is my attempt at a copy of another board that I have that I really like, an old Harbour “Rich Chew Rounded Pintail” Model. That thing is the best turning board I have.

Yes, I did do cutlaps on the rails but the pinline covers it up so you can’t really see it. The cutlaps turned out pretty good and I almost considered going without the pinlines but I do like pinlines.

“What fin setup did you go with …” Ya know ben, has anybody ever mentioned to you that you seem to have this weird fixation on fins… Yes, it is a single fin set in a finbox with the box set 8" up from the tail. I have not ridden the board yet but am considering using a 9.5" Greenough flexfin. I have tried 2+1 setups in other boards I have made but always end up riding them as singles! Rick

thanks for the info !

chipfins100 (at least!)

…fixated , eh ?

yep…I rode my 7’er without any fin last week , and discovered… it didn’t go too well without a fin !

Nice board looks great

i would say at least a week unless u heat cured …I waited two from the lam .

room temp cures just get stronger over more time

Very nice, did you make your blank again or did you use a Clark/Walker blank?

Thanks. I used a Walker 10’2" blank this time. First time I have used a Walker blank and I really liked it and would definitely use a Walker again. The foam on the Walker seems somewhat different than what I am use to with the Clark blanks.

good job, man…i’m impressed.
