Lazor Zap back after 31 years.

After 31 years the board planshape that was the begining of the modern shortboard shape is being reproduced by Geoff Mccoy again. Simon Anderson quoted in one of the mags, "That had it not been for this plan shape he would not have made a thruster and that the thruster design would not have worked. I think this board still looks modern, even today. This one is a bad picture, I will put a better one in later, but this little 6’0’’ singlefin beauty is a real gem.

For you guys interested in a singlefin that is really really loose and rides the pocket, this is where to start.

This board unfortunately came in with slight nose damage. Thanks DHL.

These boards will be collectors items one day. When Geoff Quits shaping them there will be no more. It’s really nice to see a part of surfings history again after so many years. Brings back childhood memories.

Nice…

What kind of bottom configuration does it have? I used to have one back in the day… it was flat rail-to-rail with a lot of vee in the last 16" or so. Also, what kind of fin do you use with it?

Very similar airbrush too.

No loaded dome? Omphy dent?

I’ll bet there are a bunch of the 56st zoport guys thet could get teary eyed over one o’ them rance corrins boards thet he used ta shape with the chequered bordecks and stuff …

could he be coaxed to built a limited edition o’ specials fer the “boys” there in 31years later land?..oh I just remembered them was twin- fins…sorry.

…I still have the earth shaking board I rode in 72 and it dont look anything like … but it sure went fast,or slow.

aloha from my house…

…ambrose…

I just make a limited number too .thanks DHL*

*DHL mail my promotional check to my clandestine mailbox so my wife doesn’t know I have another income,I’m saving for a new trike

It has a loaded dome.

I have a Schroff from the early 80’s that was an adaptation of McCoys Lazer Zap. I’ll post pics if anybody wants to see it. Crazy spray job.

I would love to see that picture. I used to own a schroff. Even though they were blatant copies of Mccoy. I though Peter did a good job. Especially on the paint jobs. Very creative. We used to ride them with twin fins on the side with small trailers.

Will post tomorrow. Yeah, I rode them in the early 80’s when they were thrusters. Peter was very creative. Used to love visiting his shop by the pier. Where are you located, your name seems familiar?

I live in Florida. I used to live across from HB pier in 1981. Road a board with checks on on one side. I never saw another one like it while I was there. Also had a Hurley twinnie and infinity was my very first thruster.

Screw the paint job, let’s see pics of the bottom shape in detail!

I remember that shop. He used to shape where surfside is at now. He had the windows papered off so you couldn’t see in, but there was a tear in the paper and I’d mush my face up against the glass and watch him shape. That dude was fast!! That was like 25 years ago. I heard he got into clothing design and moved to NY. (Does anybody remember California Juice? They were right around the corner.)

And that real McCoy thickness and rails. Wonder what he would design for a light and thin flexy composite?

Here you go. No shots of the bottom, but I’ll get some soon.

Thanks for the pic of the Schroff! That really takes me back… Post a shot of the bottom if you have a chance.
