leash plug special fix

i recently made a new board and i forgot about the thickness for the tail… its now to thin to place a leash plug in the tail of the surfboard because the room of foam that would be left is only about 1/16 left before going all the way through the board. i wanted to ask you guys what should i do? could i place a thin piece of piping as thin as thin as the rope that attaches to the velcro on the leash?

can you move the location of the plug forward a bit?  if not, maybe you could build up 2 or 3 layers of 6oz glass patches over the spot you plan on sinking the plug to make the area thicker and then rout the hole as deep as you can without touching the bottom lam and then set the plug like normal.

The hell with a plug. Do a bridge.

If you can cut a hole in the board deep enough for a leash plug with 1/16" underneath it, you'll be fine. I've installed leash plugs that you could see from the bottom of the board with no problems. However, you can always do the fin rope leash attachment thing.
