Leash plugs on fishes

Today i took out my just finished 5 8 fish with a solid baby blue tint and handmade ply wood keel fins. The waves were pretty crummy but i could tell that it will ride great in good waves. It was not tracky but not to loose. It is also reassuring to know that i can actually stand on a 5 8. However, now i am wondering if there is any theory on leash plug placement on fishes. I am a regualr foot and i put the plug in the middle of the right swallow tail. Where do you guys put your leash plugs on fishes? Does it matter if you are a regualr foot?

Thats where I put mine. I don’t think that it matters where you put it with reguards to regular or goofy foot. If you are doing true custom work, then ask the customer.

…I’ve put them on the wrong side by accident(goofyfoot rather than reg.foot),and never noticed it.You just don’t want it to far up the deck. That will cause you to step on it or cause you to get your foot rapped it the leash.Herb

lunch meat put a piece of glass rope right accross the bight of the intersectionof the converging swallowtail an wow what a "genius solution…sanded out it looks like i grew there an no lefty righty indicision… ambrose…suns coming up

…I have some glue-on Ofishl leash disks.they work great.Herb …come by I’ll be here all day today, and you can have one.Herb

I never noticed either, until I put the plug on the ‘wrong side’ by accident; thinking that if the plug is near the heal of my foot it would be out of the way more… I discovered that the leash seems to be less of a hassle when placed near my toe, since the leash dangles all on the right side of my board when I paddle, instead of looping over - though I’m sure this could have a lot to do with what type of leash you use and your surfing style.

or you could just learn to surf yer fish without a leash, and never really worry about it, like me :] yeah, it has a plug in it, and its in the center. always wraps around the keel/tail and stuff. i only wear the leash if it’s overhead and/or crowded. and by crowded, i mean 30+ people.

Yeah, if you are going to go to all the work of making a beautiful resin tinted-kustom made glass on fins etc. board then put a dang leash loop made of resin in the middle… even across the swallows like ambrose says. Don’t put one of those nasty leash cups in it! Or just screw the leash, and swim. -Carl
