Small Wave Hustler…by Jim Phillips. The customer couldn’t decide between a Small Wave Terrorist and a Hustler so Mr Custom Surfboards made him a custom.

And then someone said, “hey, you used to shape for Dale right? did you ever do any of his 422’s?” The Genius has his take on the 422 dubbed the 442 Hemi…

Don, Don, Don, Don, Don… Don’s SWT

This one is 10’ and the glassing is almost done. Temperature and humidity wrong to finish it yet.

Holy Sheeiiiite!! I used to watch Jim glue up stuff like that, he’d always have this evil little smile on his face as he bandsawed the cuts and set up the wood for the T-bands. Then much cussing would ensue as he wrestled all the pieces into the bar clamps. It would look like hell with glue smeared around all over the place, but then a few planer passes into the shape the beauty would emerge. I hope the customer for this one appreciates all the experience, skill, and knowledge that went into it. There’s only one Jim Phillips!!!

Mine isn’t finished because of the temp as well. It’s at a friends in Alhambra and I can only work on it in the morning. It was in the 40’s up there this morning. I got my fin today from Larry.
