Let's see your shop...

Don’t be shy…

…the Good…

     ...the Bad...

            ...the Ugly...

What works great…What doesn’t…???..

Here’s mine. Let’s see yours.

I’ll show you mine if you show me yours…

this is the newest member of my shop… it is a multi function table 9’ long and 32" wide but about 33" tall… i needed a place to store my rail and skin woods and a place to lay them up as well… it is also the same height as my band saw for a nice out feed table for resawing. in this photo it is in glassing mode. the work surface is covered with a semi sticky plastic that is used to protect carpet during construction. glass a few board and peal it off and back to skins and rails… it was amazing how clean my shop looked when this was put into action…

You asked…

The standard issue two car attached garage…24 ’ x 21’…

You can see what’s there…

One nice thing you can’t see is the natural gas wall heater…Consider my latitude…

Good lighting…

A 9" Rockwell contractor table saw behind me with a big out-feed table…

Portable tools are behind the doors under the work table…

Battery powered Rigid planer…

The shaping / glassing stand / table is on wheels…When I don’t want it to roll, I put the wheels in used tin cans…

The floor has never been protected from resin drips…I’m proud of that…

More recent shop locations…

Here’s where two boards were built in Portugal…A manger…

And in Ireland…A community center…

Between Portugal and Ireland I needed to build a board…

Within a two week window…

I set up a folding table in my garage, put a cardboard box on it and thats where I did everything…

Assembly, shaping, sanding glassing…

It’s not about the shop…

It’s about being adaptable…

Dang, Paul…your shop looks nicer than my kitchen!

Although I will say in my favor that no board repair debris has ever stuck to my kitchen floor…or at least this kitchen floor…ahem…

Nels

only through adversity can you discover your limits…

this is our work/storage/vacuum table… there’s a 1958 collectors classic Austin Healy under all that crap

Here’s our shaping room with a rocker table and blanks ready for shaping…

here’s sharkcountry shaping his swordfish model

Sometimes nice people feel sorry for us and invite us over to use a real room

I guess the terrible work conditions hasn’t stopped us from making these crazy homemade things…

you might call it hawaiian ghetto shaping.

You would’ve thought we would’ve wised up or given up by now…

Here’s my temporary shaping booth . . .

I put up a beach shelter. Set up a couple of old photographic lamps. Then wrap the thing in black plastic.

This is the multi machine from China that I bought for my shop a few years back. Also have a very large bandsaw and a couple routers. Oh yes ! This is my shop in Hue Vietnam. I was only there for six weeks this year . I used to spend 6 months each year working there. My workers keep everything going year around. This year we finished my brother inlaws house. My wife and I own the third floor and have a killer view of Hue city. I have yet to make a connection to get Epoxy resin there but Im working on it! Ahui hou ! Wood_Ogre

Oneula… wow, you guys have made a hell of alot of boards…

Heres my setup, simple but got plenty of space

Half shaping bay half supra mechanic shop haha…

This is why you should always be extra careful with your planers…

to the bone she goes

one of the few times it is clean

and it is mutipurpose

Wood_Ogre that machine is amazing! not one covered belt, chain, blade, or knife!!!

basic garage

modify as needed

I’ve hijacked half of the garage from my house mates and assimilated it in to a two stage man cave.

one side for bagging and laminating

the other room for shaping and sanding

I did my best to try to clean up before taking these, but I knew it was a lost cause in Jensen’s thread.

(that’s my table saw/router table under the light on the right…both lights come out and the table saw swings

perpendicular…I can just barely process a 4’x8’ of whatever in that room)

Afoaf, is that a PM66 you got there? Nice saw!

Does that table still wobble so much or did you stabilize it? Shop looks good Tyler. You gonna let me come get it dirty when I get back to school??? Good use of the extra paddleboard mat.
