I threw this together and figured I would show some pics. Put a cheap $10 shop light under the stand. Haven’t actually glassed a blank yet so I would call it a proto type. Has interesting possiblities. My eyes aint what they used to be so it should help when tucking under laps.
I was worried about heat from the bulbs but it appears to be a non-issue.

It looks like it will work - I too have eyes that are less than they used to be…
With that in mind - I notice the cord hanging down. Be sure to tape over the complete run across the floor so you don’t trip over it as you’re glassing. Hate to say,“Been there done that” but I pretty much have in one situation or another in the shop…
Let us know how it works.

I will tape the cord down to the floor with duct tape. This is just a prototype. My main glassing stand is on a barber chair base that I can raise and lower with a pedal. I am semi retired and always forking around with better ways to do things. Actually I like the old style stands that are just mounted to the floor with nothing to get in the way. I just got tired of resin dripping on my shoes and tracking it all over my multi use shop.
If I like the lighted stand enough a may just cut a groove in the floor and put an outlet under it.
Another great idea to try.
ES, When you go to Home Depot can I bludge a ride from you ??

Few people impress me with thier creativity. But you, Roger, and Jim Phillips, have both done so. Must have been something in the dust at the Hobby Shop, all those years ago! To have a barber chair glass stand, is almost enough to get me back into glassing again.
Those Barber/beauty shop chairs are very common at junk shops and auctions. They usually have ratted out upholstery so you can score them for around $50. Just check to make sure the hydraulic pedal/lift works and throw away the seat which just bolts on. Then you have the pedestal to build on.
The lighted glassing stand has been around for years so I can’t take credit for the idea. my friend Jim Dunlop at Mystic Surfboards has an even simpler version which I think is pretty nice. I have included a pic.

I’ve been doing that for a while. Simple small flouro fixture, run the wire under the tar paper on the floor. Really helps see the laps. They come out better so there’s less sanding.
