Lightweight spackle before hotcoat.......

Hi there, Its Crabie again. Should I put lightweight spackle over glassed deck/bottom before hotcoat? Just a curious cos I m using 6 oz E-Glass fabrics. It eats much resin and the resin may not be evenly distributed. Therefore, I m thinking putting something on the deck/bottom to make it even and smoothy before hotcoat. Regards, Crabie

I agree with Noodle, you don’t want to do that. Are you saying that you are not getting even saturation of the cloth by your resin? I don’t know what temperature your are laminating in (what’s the temp in Hong Kong these days?) but I do know, the colder it is, the more resin you will need to saturate your cloth. Or is the laminating resin in some way damaging the foam and you want to spackle over the lamination to smooth everything back out? The spackle should just be used on the foam. If you start putting it in between layers of resin, you are going to have problems.
