logo design

Anyone know of any good software for designing a logo? I’ve been using microsoft paint because my logo is so simple, but i’m making more custom boards now so I’d like to have a more professional looking logo. I’m looking for something that is pretty simple to use since i pretty much suck at all things computer related.

thanks, dillon

I used GIMP you can download it free. It’s a very powerful program. To learn how to use it I typed what I wanted to do on google and there are tons of video tutorials on YouTube.                                                       Also you can have images put on rice paper through boardlams.com. He is located in Costa Mesa, Ca.  John will also help you develop a logo if you aren’t artistic.

I developed my own through trial and error with GIMP.

Word Art in Microsoft Word.  Go to this website to download all sorts of fonts.  Between these two tools even a novice at graphics can come up with a logo.

You should use vector based program for logos.

Vectors are resolution independent so when you enlarge the art it doesn’t degrade.

Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw are the standard.

Inkscape which is free also is great for logos.

I teach kids how to use Corel to produce logos. It’s a doddle. If you need any help ping me a PM and I can do something for you…for free.

By the way Mako - I saw your logo change to what you’ve shown above some years ago and it looks great…made your boards look even better. It really is amazing what difference a logo can make to the look of a board. Not that I’d be influenced on a board because of branding…

+1 for Inkscape

+1 for GIMP

Although having to account for resolution is annoying…

A few years ago I posted an Inkscape tutorial on how to create a flip/spin template. It’s an animated GIF the image changes to the next step every 10 seconds. The program has a lot of features for a freebee.

Thanks everyone for your replies. A fellow sways member created one for me, big thanks to michael!
