logo: where world talks surfboards

Just tinkering around, came up with this.  I think it still needs some work, and I don’t know why it came out small.  Will try to get a larger version, if anyone wants.  Thought it might be cool for a lam.  Also, did a variation on errors & bugs.  Let me know what you think.

Seams when I post on a tread it is doomed!

Hoping not so here! Sway’s needs stoke!

Keep working on the Sway’s lam.

I have not been afraid to use this ERB’s logo on my boards!

Huck, you really have been blessed with the hand/eye/mind coordination for art and the gumption to get it done! I still think many of these belong on t-shirts. I vote for the 2nd ‘discuss’ graphic, might want to sneak a sliver of East Oz and NZ in on the globe so they don’t feel left out.

Good one!

Lol…pretty cool skull logo! Huck - darken the globe a bit more as it’s barely noticeable… Fyi - my art teacher (sketch/drawing class) drilled me on that. Make certain lines DARK! Might change to cooler font. Looks decent, but rushed.

BTW, anyone is free to play with the design, different typefaces, darken lines, etc. - all I’m using is MS Paint to do this, real basic, comes with most computers, and I’m not putting any copyright restrictions, so feel free to take the design and tweak it any way you think might improve it!

The challenge to the design concept is trying to come up with an image that puts the swaylocks experience in a nutshell.  There have been logos in the past, one with a mermaid, just the word Swaylocks, or Swaylocks Inspired, and I seem to recall one that was hands joined at the wrists.  But I wanted to try to get a new concept that would embody what I see as the essence of Swaylocks: an international meeting place centered around the discussion of the surfboard and all its facets.  That’s why I felt the globe was an important element, and of course, the surfboard.

The design concept is based largely on this, from Swaylocks FAQ:

Hence, the world’s meeting place to talk surfboards.

I’ll probably tinker with this more as I get a little time here and there, but meanwhile anyone is free to make a lam with these, or tweak them, like I said.  Also I’m open to any other ideas or sketches anyone may have, along the same lines.

Here is a simplified version that just uses the symbols to get the message across

I Like" The international language of stoke "
How about this just for laughs " Seeking world domination one board at a time." I suck at computer graphics and admire those that can produce using a computer. Just a little sweet talk to pass on another Idea to you. Do 3 Board outlines on long another inside the longboard a mid range and then a short inside that. Now I’ll just shut up and say nice work I’d order a tee shirt.

are spiders bugs?

spiders are not bugs they are aracnids

not insects. the lady said technicly ,

only certain insects are bugs.belonging rto

the insect order Hemiptera therefore all insects are not bugs either.

how bout that? the real question is what bugs can survive aka live underground.

As in the circumstance of occupied France Underground has more to do

with resistance to irrational and unfair socio-political regime

in occupation…

The spider does not properly represent

my concept of underground as well as

perhaps a  benevolent lady bug or japanese bettle.

The historic demonizing of the spider puts an unfavorable Pall

on the bugs and errors dodge of oppressive

elements in the general discussion forum.

…ambrose…

spiders build cool webs.

ladybugs fly away home

to save their children

from burning buildings.

For reasons of my own, I like the spider, I drew it for myself - but just thought I 'd share in case anyone else wants to use it.

Anyway, the errors & bugs logo is just tongue-in-cheek, but for the record, underground as in out of the mainstream

Artz - I understand your intent, and appreciate the input, but in my mind the design becomes too “busy” with three board outlines, I just need one that clearly conveys the concept “surfboard”.  Like I say, others may tweak the design as they see fit.  Here’s my latest tweak…

The nose is off by 1/4 inch.

I wondered who was gonna catch that!

Great stuff No. III…

Huh, all my noses are off about that much.  I like it Huck. Can I get a couple.  Chipfish did a cool one a few years back, too. I might still have a couple. Mike

The one in post 13.  The logo says it all. No need for words.  Mike

I like the versions in Post Nos. 9.2 & 13 (below), with minor revisions.

Suggested revisions:

  • Go without a stand holding the globe(s).

  • To include all countries, put one half of the world (globe A) above** SWAYLOCKS **and the opposite half (globe B) below.

With those revisions, I would want one.

Have several single-color options.

(You may need a white border outside the surfboard outiline to keep it from getting lost in/blending into the gray background box on a shirt or laminate.)

Keep it minimalist…

I agree with artz,

The three board outline kindled a memory which took a while to dig up! Plus the line " Seeking world domination one board at a time." is provocative BS that I love.

Good enought for Mr. Curren, good enought for us mortals.
