Lokbox delam, help needed in NSW Australia

Hi all,

I was surfing a point break a few days ago and got taken by the rip to the rocks.  One of the fins of my polyester quad fish touched a rock and the glass above one of the lokbox finboxes delammed a bit. It didn't look very bad at first sight, but it got worse during the session.

Here's what it looks like, it is still watertight, but I'm concerned it will get worse:

Can anyone give me some advice on how it should be repaired? ( I hope the box doesn't have to be removed completely)

I'm travelling through Australia at the moment and don't have tools to repair it. So does anyone know a good ding repair guy in NSW? I'm probably heading south to Wollongong tomorrow, so anyone in that area would be great.

Cheers!

the only way to fix that is to pull the fin plug out cutting the glass around its edge and re-install the fin.Don't even try to remove the delam cloth abd fill it up pouring resin inside, otherwise the fin wont fit anymore!

There's a bloke in gerringong who does great ding repairs, i just got a ding fixed the other day, excellent. Look in the phone book for "wave creations", or DSN in gerringong, same bloke. He also fixed my mates snapped surftech longboard a few years ago. You could not see where it had snapped, even holding up to the sun, and he still rides it today, and its still a great board.

Cheers

Feralcraig was so kind to offer me the 24hr swaylocks express service. Just picked up the board and it looks like new again.

Cheers mate!

Hey Craig or anyone else. Any hints on how You repair that kind of damage to a (Lok)box?

For this type of repair I first check to see if the box has broken loose. If it has..the box must be replaced. If it hasn't just sand it down good with rough paper like 60 grit on a hard pad and re-cap it. Tape off the cavity then once the resin has gelled cut around the perimeter of the tape with a blade and open up the cavity. Re-tape the cavity and then hotcoat. Sand and gloss if required.
