I was looking through the archives for info about fin systems that will accept a bonzer set-up. It seems that Futures and Lokbox are the two that seem most in favor here.
Any opinions on which is the better system? I would be using them for boards glassed in heavy volan cloth, and wondered if this would interfere with them at all as they both are laminated under the glass.
Also, do I need to purchase the jigs from the manufacturers or can I make my own? Seems a bit frivolous to buy a jig and all the vacuum gear for just a few boards…
anyhoo, hope ya all had a good weekend. Thanks a lot.
I plug both, future for the short-boards, and lokbox for fishes and bonzer. I just would like to say that to my experiences there is no better options than lokbox.
The quality of the fins is insane, ( all of it, look, finish and foil) and the system allow you a bit of flexibility qua placement ( especially when testing new boards)
The box look good ( volan will cover the box with the same effect as the blank)
The jig systems is easy, safe, and with a bit of experience you will find yourself using it for lots of things ( single fin box, repairs, etc…).
For bonzer, glass-on is the best, but I made one recently with lokbox and was very pleased as I needed to adjust the fins up a bit.
Just make sure your concave don’t run to close to the rail, as you need 1" flat ( more or less) for the boxes.
Hi Jeremy sorry I missed this thread. I believe you meant Red-X as the other system besides Lokbox that have a bonzer set-up. If your interested in the Lokbox set-up just send me a message at lokbox@sbcglobal.net and I’ll help you out getting the boxes in. Thanks Jim
