Lokbox vacuum jig installation

Sorry for the delay guys. This covers after lamination installs with a full sized plunge router and our vacuum jig. This will be followed by a pre-glass video, and 2 more including before and after glass videos with our new vacuumless jig. Hope it helps! Cheers Jim

Several questions. Does the vacuum jig include templates for 8.5" and 10.5" centre boxes? How much is the vacuum jig and do you post to New Zealand?

Hi Deanbo, if you get the vaccum jig kit ($460) you get a dewalt 2 horsepower plunge router($220 us), equipped with a router bit and template guide ($40) installed, the vacuum jig, including Lokbox templates and the 10.5 Fins Unlimited box plates. The 8.5 templates are special order. I’m sure shipping to New Zealand isn’t a problem, though not sure what if any GST or duties would apply. Check with Sarah at info@rainbowfins.com 831-728-2998 Thanks

Get Lokbox. It’s good.

I admit i just woke up and haven’t had coffee…and i’ve never installed this system…so excuse me for my dumb question but…

how does blowing air into the jig system create the vacuum…? Sucking air…that makes sense, but blowing air…cant get my head around it.

The air blows through a vacume pump.

Google vacuum units and you’ll see how they work. Basically a box with a venturi passage cut into and through it. Accelerates the air past another passage so fast that it draws air in behind it and creates vacuum. The idea was 2 fold. #1 Get away from using 2 inch tape to tape your jig down(last time I checked the good stuff was around 8 bucks a roll) and or messy glues. Most shops have a compressor running all day anyways. #2 Provide a solid attachment so that the jig can’t pop loose while routing due to the tape slipping off causing you to wreck a board. When I first developed this jig several years ago almost every shop I went to in every country were still using a tape down jig that was made around 20 years prior. Should have seen the look on the japanese glassers faces when I first brought it over there. Then I showed them our FCS adapter and they fell off their chairs…lol

cooooool, that is the only thing i could think of…

Dude, you can pick up the board from the rack using the jig as a handle.

Now up on youtube as well, just type “lokbox” into the search function. Cheers
