I’m finally taking a stab at my first board. I’ve been reading posts here for 8 months or so that have been incredibly helpful, never seen anything like this site before - in or out of the industry. I want to shape a summer cruiser/noserider with the following dimensions; 10’2" 19 x 23.5 x 16 x 3.25 Is my thinking correct in going with the 10’7"H blank? Again, based on input here, I’m going to order it with +7/8" tail rocker over the last 36". I’ve seen mention of ordering with reverse rocker, but have also heard that it can be too much tail rocker and slow the board down too much, any input? The other question is in laying out the template. Do I cut the excess off of the nose, tail or both? If I lay the template out from the tail and cut off nose area I’m also decreasing the nose rocker right? Would this decrease the nose rocker too much? Standard nose rocker is 4". Or do I center the template on the blank and cut off nose and tail area? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
I think if I were you I would go with the 10’3"S blank. You would not have to mow as much foam and that would give you a stronger board. You should also think about a supper green blank.
Bagman - thanks, I’ll take a look at the 10’3"S. I am going Supergreen with either a t-band or 3/4" stringer and plan on having it glassed 2x8oz volan deck and single 8oz base.
Sorry, should that be the 10’5"S? I don’t think I like the 10’3" (and don’t see a 10’3"S) but what do I know…
Scott, I’ve gotten a 10’2 from the Clark 10’1"Y blank before. Your dimensions will fit on it. The 10’7"H will work also, but the 10’1"Y blank will save you more money. Sounds like a fun summer board.
Sorry your right it is a 10.5S. I’m thinking about making myself a board and the 10,3 is the blank that I’m looking at. I’m a big guy and need the thickness. I guess I had the 10,3 on my mind. Sounds like a cool board should be a good cruzer, post pics.
do most of you guys order custom rockers? any stick with natural? any tips for increasing/decreasing nose & tail rockers?
