It’s that time again for the Longboard Collector Club to come South for a meeting. It will be in Pacific Beach on Saturday morning April 25th from about 7 AM to noon. On the grass at the corner of Mission Blvd. and Thomas Street (The Beach Cottages Hotel.) Sorry, but the parking on site is only for vendors and hotel guests. The theme this year is Local Heroes…the Vintage Surfboards of San Diego. Of course we also hope to attract some vintage builders who worked or still work here. Some boards are for sale or trade, and some are just for show and tell. One never can tell what might show up at one of these gigs. Last year there was a Simmons twinny for sale. I bought a way cool Cornish bellyboard. Years ago the Duke himself gave a demonstration in Ocean Beach, and then left the board here as a gift. Maybe it’ll turn up at one of these meetings. You just never know…
Sorry…that’s Thomas Avenue, not Thomas Street. Three blocks South of Crystal Pier.
One last reminder…and some photos from last year.
Awesome sticks Poobah!! Not sure if we’re roasting a pig this year due to the swine flu. Is that Colonel Tilton with his back to the camera?!
