Longboard to Hawaii Way Too Much $$?

Airlines - shortboard double bag is $80 each way, I can live with this. Bringing a 5’8" fish and a 6’2" thruster, which I made.

Anything over 9’0" is $160 each way. Ouch. Others, UPS, FedEx, DHL, any Hawaii freight company, etc and it’s at least $200 each way. I have two beautiful longboards I want to use over there for the summer - two self designed noseriders.

But looks like I’ll be renting a longboard from one of those beach boy places.

Any other ideas??

if you plan on going to hawaii at least once every year or two, why not bring one or two longboards out there and stash 'em at a friend’s house? one time fee of $160 isn’t too bad.

what airline is quoting you that? $160 over 9’?

common on united 80$excess bag fee ab=nd 80$surfboard fee

two bag limit…I board bag one check on80$ surf board fee over 9’…

9’ and under no fee…

say 9’ , incase they no mo tape measure they can choose to believe you

ambrose…they are mandated to follow tthe rules

no need to pay 160 each way. for about 300 or 350 you can get a used team rider board at the T&C factory in Campbell Industrial park. I went there yesterday to fish for design ideas and they had like six boards priced from like 300-400 in great shape by Rapoza (who makes incredible longboards if you have never ridden one of his)

Otherwise if you know someone who works for Fed Ex it only costs about 25-30 bucks to ship to honolulu (shortboards only) just pack them as small as you can. If you can be bothered by picking them up from the warehouse next to the airport ship your shortboards regardless. it will cost about the same even without discount and it is better than giving money to the airlines

United Airlines - all surfboards. Under 9’0" $80 each way. Over 9’0" double that. I think I’ll pay the $160 and then sell my longboard right on Waikiki.

I would pick up a board at KOA Board Sports in Waikiki or on the North Shore at Haleiwa Surf n Sea.

I might try those shops but it wouldn’t be as much fun as riding one that I built myself. U know what I mean?

I got some you can use for free.

Just PM me and let me know when you are coming. I will save one for you to use.

warmest aloha,

cp

I’ll be there in 20 minutes…

Which island?
