Guys, Could anyone give me a hand. I have a dilemma i have recently just bought a 10’ longboard and am having big problems finding my balance. Due to 1 large fin. When riding 7’ mini mal i us to ride on my heel leaning into the right hand rail of the board. So how do i take off in a central postion. Stupid question and all. Spose i just gotta get the feet placed right. But any suggestions? Cheers. Spacedclown.
Check Longboard Net http://www.longboard.net/wwwboard//index.html Its more oriented toward surfing than building surfboards as is Swaylocks.
is the fin glassed in? if so, perhaps a inexpensive alternative is to have a box put in, then you can try all kinds of fins, and fin placement, in order to see what works best for your style of surfing.
I have a box with a 24cm central fin. Very easy to put on and take off. What size fin should i go for to give the board more stability? Thanks for the suggestion will look into it. Cheers Spacedclown.
Oh, I didn’t know but some guy has given me some good advice and am going to take and check out that site you mentioned. Spacedclown
weight your back foot more when turning. with a 10’ board you have to really emphasize the pivot point rather than upper body motion that works with smaller boards. the further forwar your back foot is of the fin, the slower your turn is going to be due to your position ahead of the pivot point.
Mahalo plenty. To NJrightcoaster. I have taken on board info and extremely gratitious. Any way cheers. Spacedclown.
take off on a wave in the prone position ride it on your belly all day find out the glide path from the deck low on the water mostly pivot from the rear foot no carvin a 10 footer happy gliding/flying TJ
I had a 10’ popout (needed a cheap longboard for me and my two brothers) that I used to carve around like it was a shortie. For the piece of junk it was I got my money out of it - until I snapped it in half in an Uptown AC session. I still have the pieces, just waiting for some nice weather to try and piece them together. Wish me luck…
