Lookin for a job

Ill be moving to the south shore of Oahu in two weeks, I was wondering if anyone out there needed help shaping, glassing or sanding. Ive done 25 boards from start to finish so I have a little experience. If not does anyone know of any shapers there that I could get a hold of? Thanks alot…

Thanks alot… 25 boards won’t impress anybody in the business, but it might get you in the door. Tell them you’re serious about getting into board building and keep going back to show you mean it. Just remember these guys have done thousands of boards and know their stuff, so listen and learn. Good Luck,Kokua

Thanks alot… I know 25 boards is almost nothing to those who have been in the industry for years, but not having worked in a factory what type of job could I expect to get with my experience? I do have the motivation and desire to learn and it could even turn into the desire to start my own biz. Thanks for any comments.

What do you think is your strong point is as far as surfboard construction is concerned. I would try getting a job doing that and then learn the rest by watching and listening to your peers. This is how most of us learned the business, and on the job training is the best teacher. Also a good way to learn some tricks of the trade that a book or video won’t teach you. Good Luck Aloha, Kokua
