Does anybody have a 10 in long board fin they want to trade for? I got all sorts of surfboard making material stuff. Tape, polish, masks, super 77, blanks, etc.
Looking for box kind, not glass on.
Would that be overfining the board? If so, what does “overfin” mean? I here this term often. I have an old 7’11" Wilderness tri-plane hull that came with a 10" fin that seems to work just fine so I’m hesitant to try something different. Do some type board do better with larger fins or is anything over 9" for “overfiners”?
RH, A trip over to the hill is almost like a trip to Jerusalem, yeah, its not the same with the new kids on the block, but then uncle Tony had his bad days , and hanging with Bill and talking about surfboards is pretty darn cool. And then there’s the chance to stick your head into Jim Phillips workshop which is always a learning experience. I’m thankful that I have been able to do both at different times. The Bahne brothers know a few things about fins, arguably more than anyone.
hey resin head i found the fin i was looking for for you le me know if you like it[img_assist|nid=1065541|title=fin|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=559|height=378]
Senior Rat,
You have nailed it exacrly on da head...my problem is that i don't know exactly what fin i need for this board? I as thinking of trying a few before rolling out the finalized ride. Hence the need. Board is 9'10" shaped in a knockoff or an old 60's jacobs I have hanging around. Slightly more modern bottom and rails, but still some rollin the belly.
I didn'r want a D fin...I'm not that F-up.
dang
ooops
My longest is an 8 incher. Bamboo in fiberglass from Rainbow Fins. It’s a nice fin. Never been in a surfamahbord, either. You already gave me a bunch of tape and other stuff so. All of it quality 3M, too. So, the fin is yours if you want it. Mike
No one is taking my 10''er away from me. Just got it, and it freakin rocks. Smooth as silk, drivy as hell, and unlike the common misconception, it is capable of some sweet turns.
Ken,
That 9.5 looks sweet....you willing to part with it?
Send your address pm and I will get it out on Monday.
Needs pin, plate and screw. Some 400grit tlc, urathane spray and a buff will make it cherry. 10" fin from a 12 foot tandem. I will never use it.
aloha
I have one too, a Cal Classic 10 incher. Happy to trade. I used it once and ran over a seal, so…
sure. I can live with out it
supplies are welcome
glass, tape.,,,stuff
Im off this week with my boy,,,, where you at?
San Diego.
I'll PM you a bit later.
RH, why don’t you just go over to FU and talk to Bill Bahne? I bet you’ll get exactly what you want that way, at least that worked for me yesterday.
Over finning is using too many fins, or the combination of fin surface area is too much for a board. It would be way hard to over fin a 10 ft board, but really easy to under fin one.
SD..I like that fin. Actually I haven't met too many fins i didn't think were cool.......I like them all except those turbo fin things.
