looking for a new fin system...

ive been using fcs exclusively thus far. i am looking for a new system, ive read about lokbox on here and just wrote their local distributor, but is there any other systems? like ones that will except fcs, future, and lokbox fins, etc??

There’s RedX and I also heard from a local shop of WFS fins which except futures and FCS but they don’t have a website and I’ve never heard anyone else talk about them.

sounds like ProBox is the system you’re looking for. it accepts FCS fins with no adjustments necessary, and Futures fins (if there’s a template that you like) can be slightly altered to fit ProBox. ProBox also has their own line of top quality fins. the boxes install stupid-easy, and they’re waayyyy solid. it also offers a lot of adjustability. fins can be moved fore and aft within the box, and the cant angle of the fins can be changed using inserts. if you’ve been stuck on FCS, then ProBox is definitely worth a look.

I didn’t know that Futures fins will work with the probox system, how ???

Rod H, Here’s the same Board with the same fins, before Future Boxes after Proboxes. Mahalo

you have to cut down the tab of the futures a bit to make them fit in a probox box but they will…

I think the the two probox screws grip the base better than the screw and hook of the futures which I tend to always strip.

I really don’t know of any box system that supports any manufacturer’s fins globally as they were all originally designed as closed systems which was the fallacy of their “freedom of choice” concept they used to move folks away from glass-ons as they wanted you to really only make one choice of fin brand. It’s really opened up the past 2-3 years and probox started some of it.

Proboxes and FCS fins are a match made in heaven.

So after you cut them down, can you use them in the future box again, or not??

no, you can’t…but if there’s a Futures fin template that you like, track it down for cheap on eBay, cut off the front of the tab so it’ll fit your ProBox…and voila…you have all the benefits of the ProBox fin system with the Futures fins that you like!

a buddy of mine does this with the Futures fins that have the honeycomb core with carbon fiber at the base and the tip. his older boards are all Futures, but his newer boards are all ProBox, so he picked up a second set of the fins he likes, cut the tab down to size, and now has one set for all of his old boards with Futures, and another set for all of his new boards with ProBox.

Sorry Rod, Once a ProBox always a ProBox not BACK to a FUTURE. (-:
