Milch, Get a hold of GhettoRat, He knows Mike Casey who used to shape right next door to Ed's shop at Sunset. Mike was just here in Cal. for the Sacred Craft Expo.He worked with Ed for years (sending Ed work) and probably still does. Used to love walking into Ed's place after hours and seeing his Lam. clothes standing upright in the corner.
ps. When did you work at Ed's?
Talked to Ed Searfox a couple of years ago, at one of the more esoteric spots on the North Shore. Heck of a nice guy, he told me the place we were at was one of Bradshaw’s favorite places, and rarely got good. So we called Ken and told him he missed it. I hope Ed is alright I lost his number a while ago, try KB.
Well to be honest never talked to KB that much we were all fighting for waves at Sunset at that time Carley Walker was his buddy then nice guy to be in the water with as I remember. KB. was lighting bolt dude and never hung out were Ed was at the time. I lived in Hawaii only for six years back in the late 70’s and did a T-shirt deal with Ed. I was just a kid back then. Ed and Jim o ya Jeff Fisher tought me everything about surfboard building and I still ues there tecnecks work on surfboards in Calif and ****here in Costa Rica now.
Charley Walker is an underground HERO. Next time you are in the water, sit back and watch. NOTHING OUT OF PLACE.
Ps. I believe it is Shearfoss. Sorry for the pedantics.
Cool I learned a new word! They aii were teacher, schoolmaster" even Charley Walker I was always** amazed** watch him when I was out., He plays good chess in the water if you know what I mean. Thanks again I’ll check out nothing out of place right now.
Wish I was there. Sure do miss it.
Chuck Andrus is another to keep an eye on....Hawaiian Superman.
Your comment about NOTHING OUT OF PLACE.you me Charley has nothing out of place when he surfs or is it a surf video It sound like a good name for a surf video/movie
When he surfs there's nothing out of place. Even "playing chess" in the line up. The guy is also a paddleing monster, he'll beat you every time (if he wants to ).
You got that right amigo! So he was a underground Hero I use to be frinds with Owl I thought he was the under ground hero me and him did bit in a mag:(Owl Chaplands underground nothing but radar) what the hell did he mean: nothing but radar.
No Blips on The screen? Flying under the radar? my radar is broken?

O ya I get it,. You know When I tryed to find photos or something on Charley Walker there wasn’t to much on him but just enoughto let people know about him, Just like with Owl he made a lot of boards just most people didn’t know were he was making them, I think that was what he trying to convey in the surfboard add. Owl and tom hawk were perty concerned of were and who came by to check there work out. People like to steal ideas you know.
Sorry for the double post. Charley Walker was something of a legand or at least someone that left an impression in Encinitas Ca before he moved to Hawaii.
Encintas CA that’s way Charly was so mellow the people are very laid back there. That’s also were Country Surfboards Calif. was in the early 80’s,the town next door was Leucadia it was called Surf Hutt/Country Surfboards this was a pet project of Ed he told me to go hookup with Steve Salkalski and Tim De La Vaga they were the owner at the time and also to get to work on the Country Surfboards and Sunset surfboars T-Shirts and help with the shop were we made surfboards and had a retail shop. It would be cool to start a surfboard gig here in Costa Rica.
piranha , The impression he left was not a good one. But then he was vary young living on his own. What part of Cota Rica do you live?
Charley went through some rough s#%t that I wouldn't wish on anybody.
Just check with the new Lightning Bolt company. There’s a photo in a recent thread here with Ed holding a new Rory Russell Bolt. Don’t remember the thread.
