Looking for Paid Apprenticeship on East Coast or Anywhere for that Matter.

Well its getting closer to summer break and I am in need of a summer job. So i thought I would try to get one in the surfboard industry. I dont care what you have me doing. I’ll run for coffee and sweep the floors, to cleaning tools and running for supplies. pay wise im just looking for minimum wage since this is something I enjoy doing and the economy is rough. if its within driving distance this is even better that way I dont have to look into getting an apartment.

I am looking to learn the art of producing surfboards of a high quality to learning how a shop operates. right now I am going to school for CAD operating and management so if you have a CNC machine i could get credit for a class if it fits the criteria.

I’d much rather make minimum wage doing something that intrests me and I dont find boring then get $10.XX and do something I start to hate less then a week in.

I am open to suggestions also.

thanks in advance guys.

Hope you don’t take offence but good luck with the economy the way it is. I also wonder what the trainer gets out of something like this. Sorry for the hijack.

trainer gets me doing the things they dont like doing. kind of like having an assistant. i wouldnt be opening my own shop. and you didnt hijack.

i just thought id ask if anyone had an opening, knowing they probably dont. just have hated my summer jobs so far and i am looking for a change of pace.

These days, the best you might hope for is an unpaid internship type of deal. Too many skilled people are out of work, to expect getting a paid position without any experience. (See Jim Phillips’ post about surf economy)
