I’ve had this problem twice. Go to put a fin in a box and tighten it down, but it still moves. I’m sure this is so simple I am overlooking the problem; Is the box sunk too deep or shallow? I’ve sanded the base of the fin down but still no-go. What’s wrong and how can I fix it? Thanks- ole

Thanks- ole IMHO if the tab sticking out of the base of the fin ends up fairly close to the top of the fin box and the fin is sliding back and forth when the screw is tighted down firmly then the fin base inside the box isn’t thick enough. Sand it with 100 grit and then paint a coat on either side of the base. Try and build it up so it’s nice and snug. Take a block of wood with sandpaper and make it a true fit. Mahalo, Rich
Several times I’ve had this problem and fixed it by shimming the fin with the wrapper/label that zog puts on its wax. Works fine and cheap and fast too.
This is not an uncommon problem. Either the box is too wide or the fin is too thin. I have shimed the fin with thin mylar or mylar wraping tape. Works great. Anthony>>> I’ve had this problem twice.
