My board is finished and water tested. It’s fast, but not ideal for big ocean swells. I shaped in 2" of rocker, but checking the board now that it’s finished I found it to be 1.25".
I think I read somewhere about boards losing rocker during bottom lamination. Does losing 3/4" sound right for a 14 foot board?
Before you answer, let me explain my build process. I lamintated 6" wide carbon strips to the rail first, with board sitting on my rocker bed during cure. Weights were added to the deck. My hope was this would lock in the rocker. But, the carbon wasn’t enough to make it stiff all alone. It was still flexing until the bottom lam was done. I used 3 shaping stands to support the board in its natural shape. I did not check the rocker on the shaping stands before doing the bottom lam. My mistake.
Now I’m not sure how much to compensate on the next build. I’m not doing carbon rails on the next one.
