Major Hawaiian board auction on eBay...

EBay - love it or hate it. There is a massive Hawaiian board collection up for grabs. Some very nice boards are available if you have some spare $$$ and have to have one. Lots of balsa boards and a couple of Tom Morey’s “way out of the box” air-lube designs, one of which was shown here recently.

All this stuff is at the Blaisdale Center in Honolulu. Was just there…Randy Rarrick runs it. Waiting for noon when I can get in and get a closer look at everything. Auction starts tomorrow at 5Pm…not sure how that works with E Bay in the mix.

Roger

I believe the way it works is that Ebay will bid for you in the live auction (and add on 15% as a service charge)…

Wow, that is a huge collection. That stuff should be put in a museum. Now these priceless items will be wall hangers in yuppie condos and wanterfront mansions that litter the cali coast. Damn the man

Tyson,

The ‘‘collection’’ you refer to, is with little exception, CONSIGNED by a great many individuals, that in many cases never took care to preserve these rare and interesting surfboards and memoribilia. Randy has spent the last two years tracking down, and assembling these items for people who really care about them, to obtain and perserve them. When you PAY for something you are more likely to care for it, than if you found it in uncle Joes’ garage after he died. Many of these items will eventually end up in Surf Museums by way of donation in any event. Randy is to be applauded, not damned for what he has done here. You should employ greater depth of thought to the topic, before offering such shallow comment.

Lol I read that Randy Rarick once signed a guestbook in Jeffrey’s Bay with the comment “One can always count on waves in my presence”

.

I scoff in your general direction. HA! I never “damned” anyone, moron. Furthermore, if my opinion that these boards, or some of these boards should go, or would be *NICE to see preserved in a museum, is in any way shallow… well I guess ‘damn me’! Because, face it, seeing them in a museum was my greater concern. Really what you mean to say is don’t “damn” those yuppies I so eloquently described. I guess someone got offended when I used the ‘Y’ word, and that same someone must have that pimp ocean front crib Cali style. Awwwhhh. Sorry I hurt your feelings. Why don’t you go sulk over this with your daily Starbucks enema. And maybe during the process, if you have any sense at all, you’ll realize that your rude comment and futile behavior to try and tough-talk someone over a forum shows the painful extent of your intelligence, or lack there of.

And if you’d like to continue to badger someone over the forum, next time after you form what you believe is an intelligent thought, run it past your old woman juuuuust to double check, because I’m sure she hears you say stupid shit like this all the time. And even if you do, after all this, decide to repost because I’ve upset you and or offended you in some way… well I’m over it, and I laugh if you waste a moments more of your time on me.

This has been very entertaining, PEACE!

Tyson

Shaper since (enter your big swinging dick date here to prove your dominance!)

Well, well, well,

You have managed to produce the best pseudo intellectual wannabe whine/rant, that I’ve ever encountered. Bravo for you. If you resent the fact that I have considerable experience, and knowledge about the sport, don’t read what I post. You were wrong in the thrust of your post, and I pointed it out to you. Real classy of you to bring the wife into this. Yes, she has been listening to what I have to say for the 43 years that we have been married. I reside 35 miles from the ocean, and have a Starbucks once every 2 or 3 years. I can certainly tell that you really hate being you. Is that why you spew out the crap you just did? Save it for someone that may be impressed by it. Didn’t I see in your post…‘‘Damn the man’’? I took you at your word. Weigh your words carefully, they sometimes have to be eaten.

And Tyson, you are most likely correct, that I have wasted my time on you. Watch the Vintage Auction on the internet tonight at 8:00pm pacific time. Pay attention to item #37. You might learn something.

Wow. Next time, try a few deep breaths.

How do you know this shit? ROFL!!

LOL!

Hey Bill, Real rough when someone questions you?

99.9% of the “collectors” at that ridiculous auction don’t even surf anymore.

Most are groupies that want to mingle with the people they used to read about in surf magazines when they were young. They even collect autographs!!!

Buy a board, hang it on your wall.

Me? I’m thinking about the little south swell projected for next week.

The “guestbook” in J-Bay is one of the more interesting pieces of living surf history I’ve ever encountered.

But what would you know about it. You live in Holland!!!

Pointdog,

I think that 99.9% is too high, but you are correct that a great many ‘‘collectors’’ don’t surf activly anymore. I don’t see how that disqualifies them in any way. I’ve always welcomed intelligent questions, as many on this forum will attest to. I don’t have much tolorance for the other kind. I’m thinking about the same south swell you are. Hope we all get something out of it.

Dave, it’s trivia that I picked up from Surfer/Surfing mags back when I was a gremmie in the 70’s.

The reply from one of the locals was " We receive waves at J Bay by the grace of God not through your septic presence"

You crack me up. First off its I’m filled with overwhelming joy that you actually took me so seriously in that you took the time to try to sound justified in replying to what I wrote. I knew if I threw in some quirky sounding, and yes your right… PSEUDO, comments and remarks it’d get your goat. After all I was mocking your dusty over tones that can’t help but ooze out over even an internet connection.

So If you’d read up, my original post was just my concern about the boards being in a museum and I guess the yuppie comment pissed you off. Whatever.

I’m satisfied that I wasted your time, like i promised you I would, and everyone else on here that has enjoyed reading this sees how much of a pompous ass you really are.

So to break it down, you are a washed up old guy, who demands respect. You drop names like crazy in your profile, and think that by dating yourself that you can command your own validity. Something like stroking your own ego? I bet you like the sound of your voice so much you can’t shut up in person either. Face it, you are no big deal.

At any rate… this has been REALLY entertaining for me, and lots of others too, I’m sure. And if you thought that bringing your Wifey into this has anything to do with defining my “class”… well If I honestly wasn’t having a good time with you, I’d just have replied “F%@K OFF OLD MAN!”. But nahhh… I didn’t. And I wont.

So now that we’ve broke the ice and gotten to know one another, maybe you can share a few old war time like surf stories and I can read on like an amazed child!

Or wait… is this another trick of mine, to get you to waste more time and reply yet again with some psycho babble bullshit? Do it, I know you want to!

Take care friend

I don’t like to have to remind you all about some basic rules of behavior in those forum discussions, but I’m supposed to be a moderator here.

Besides, it seems to me that you’re not only transgressing forum rules but also common social rules too. Like respect due to the elder, especially those who helped make surfing what it is. So, please, calm down.

You really enjoy puffing yourself up don’t you. You are the classic snot nosed punk, sniping from safety. You employ so much typing, to so little effect. Go out and accomplish something. Growing up might be helpful. Maybe you could get active in the surfrider foundation, and give some meaning to your life. Hee,hee…

Come off it Balsa, Bill Thrailkill throws more insults and personal attacks around on this forum than all of the other members combined, not to mention threats !

And I’m not just saying that because a lot of them are directed at me. . . . it’s just an observation of rank inconsistency in the rule enforcement around here.

Special rules for old Williams . . … oh dear how quaint !

Uh Oh, there he goes again, moderator encouraged insults from BT, I’m off to glue up panel 3 for the Future Primitive Pipeline board, see you later !

( LOL I d o wonder how he would fare without the bodyguard )
