Makaha/Town/Country/ you name it...

I’m going to be on Oahu for 3 weeks (June 20 to July 9). It would be great to meet some Swaylockers there. Anyone who is interested in a surf, post here or drop me a PM. My cell is 619 987 2560, and we stay out at Makaha - but I’m happy to meet in town, west side, north shore if its breaking - anywhere you want… long paddles are fine, I’ll have a longboard & shortboard so it’s all good…

aloha,

Keith

I am good on weekends. We can charge Waikiki. Call me dvarde@verizon.net. I might also be glassing or finishing a 10’6" three-stringer board around that time.

Dennis

sounds great, I sent you an email…

If anyone else wants to get together, let me know. Oneula thought it would be good to have an Oahu Swaylocker’s get-together at Oneula Beach Park. Sounds great to me, how about July 2nd (the Saturday before 4th of July). BBQ and surf, 2pm to whenever…

I am going to do my best to be on Oahu around that time and would love to be there. It is a 10 minute bike ride from where I stay in Ewa Beach. My 10-4 Simmons is a ball when it is small there! Gotta get in the water before the trades get too strong.

Roger

Great. We’ll get together around 2pm on the 2nd (easy to remember, no?) At Oneula Beach Park. Should be fun… spread the word, the more the merrier!

Sounds Dandy…

I’ll see you there work permitting.

Sorry Keith, my wife won’t let me go…

sorry Keith , my money [?] won’t let me go…

…man youre so funny! i laughed out loud

Just a heads up from a local…

Since it is the biggest three day weekend of the summer and since this is somewhat country… They’ll be alot of campers putting up tents for the weekend crowding the parking lot. just find an open space. Hopefully someone can get down early kapu a space and setup an instant tent. I’m kind of hobbling around with two torn up knees but I’ll do what I can. If we still had our family land we could have the party there but Haseko’s got it all closed off now.

If there’s any surf, it’ll be much better than Whiteplains(Obeach) which is both foot(snd bottom) and potluck friendlier beach since there’s no camping just ookoo people in and out of the stinky water.

Oneula(Haubush) is very local and sometimes spooky crowd especially if you look like an outsider but the bruddas don’t get too drunk before lunch it should be pretty mellow. Just watch you stuff if have it lkying around and lock you car if you are no where near it to prevent some ice addict from picking up something to hock for lunch or a toot.

I’ll try and let the dailies know this weekend that they’ll be a bunch of foreign looking out of towners coming down for a visit so they don’t think it an invasion or something.

It definitely a longboard spot so you shortboarders be warned. But there’s alot of us shortboarders still hanging on as well. If the surf is good it’ll be fun to bad I won’t be able to enjoy it… hmm maybe alot of ducttape might work…

Oh ya turn right at Chevron by the 7-11 go down Papipi and keep going on when the road ends it looks like sh*t but keep going parks at the end…

And sorry no facilities to poop it’s at the far end of the park by the baseball fields where the druggies hang…

If you want facilities Ewa Beach Park by CMP’s place or Whiteplains is a better choice…

Ah life in Ewa Beach

home…

Well we can wave Aloha when we pass each other at the airport. Confirmed I will be arriving the day you are departing 9-15 (redeye out). Staying own at the Hilton Village so Waikiki is the call. Maybe UncleD will be about? I offered Kevin a place but I guess he can not extend.

Lets see, first stop is Alicia’s for some Poki and Hawiian Sun, Checkin to the digs and then a warm water fix. Yup, that sounds about right (might have to stop by Ala Mo and check out the waves and grind the Poki

Expect some reports amigo, have fun!!

I am always open to surfing on the weekends. I usually get to the parking lot across the War Museum at Fort DeRussey before 8 AM on Saturday or Sunday. This a stone throw away from the Hilton. We venture out to either 3’s, Pops or Paradise. We like Paradise the best because that is more of a family spot. I am teaching a bunch of Castle H.S. girls water polo players how to surf too. It’s like an off season cross-training thing. Call my cell at 808 239-4260 if you want to hook up. I should be done glassing my 3-stringer 10’7" by then. If any one is in town during the 4th of July weekend, check out the Bay Fest at Kaneohe Marine Base (http://www.bayfesthawaii.com/). For you old timers out there like me, Lynyrd Skynyrd will be playing on July 4th. Oh Yeah!

aloha,

Dennis

Sounds like maybe a Sunday session 10 July? Just look for an old guy with a 9-0 yellow bisect (two piece travel board) that is covered from head to knee. ha ha. My cell is 619-701-5571.

Kahalu’u is were I build my first sailboat (on the mud flat). It was a 34ft cat that I had sprit rigged with 36ft bambo gaffs. I lived on the bay for several years in the 70’s. Good times sailing into Chinamans hat and Sandbar and spending the night with friends. The cat was called Popoki (no brainer huh).

Kaneohe pyrmid rock is an excellent break!! Wouldn’t mind getting a session in there if its working.

Was trying to get some Uke time in as well to learn some local chop. Folks on the Taropatch site gave me some clues.

Looks like Keith and company is going to hit it right on

Make sure you go early before the wind kicks up. Oneula is an awesome place to surf. The people are cool. I miss surfing in Hawaii. Oh well, I’ve got the gulf coast.

Aloha,

Al

MoonDoggy, I don’t think MCBH Kaneohe Bay is open to non-military these days, but I haven’t checked that for a year or two. Used to be open 10-5 or 11-5, Sundays only, to civilians, but after 9/11 it was closed. Anyone got an update? Marines don’t give out telephone listings in the Oahu phone book, or I’d call the Pass and ID office. I get on-base once in a great while for work, but have to have a sponsor on the inside call the sentries.

Anyway, though Pyramid Rock can be a nice ride, most of the time it’s tradewinds and howling onshore like everywhere else on the windward side. But when the Konas come… and it does get large…

Keith-

Please post any relevant pics from your get togethers, so I can see what i missed out on. Thanks.

Neil Miyake http://www.hisurfadvisory.com/ Mr. Sponge himself turned us on to the site. I lived in K-bay for many years and never surfed there. The day we surfed there there was a Hawaiian ceremony ongoing. Guess the base CO does open it up for those occasions. No matter though I can get on any time (still a govy). Not sure about Keith though.

Yes Keith, take some pic’s

Hey all - aloha, have temp. access to a computer. We are still GO for Oneula Beach park on the 2nd. I will be there by 1pm, we have a white van, white longboard and green shortboard.

Hope all you Oahu guys can drag yourself out there, should be fun to meet everybody.

See you there!!! We will take pics…

aloha,

PS it was good to meet you uncleD, hope you can make it too…

Aloha Keith:

It was great meeting you too. I was wishing for some better surf that day. I won’t be able to go to Hau Bush on Saturday. I will be entertaining some out of town guest and we are picking up a few EPS blocks to make a 14’ fishing surfboard. Yes 14’ x 48" x 6". I want to mount a transom and run a 5 hp outboard motor. The guy I introduce you to Jon and I are making one for each of us. We were testing out his new shaping room in Manoa and it is first class and very cool (a big AC unit helps). It is 16’ x 8’ x 8’. I just finished glassing my 10’7" three stringer and will post a few picks soon. I will start on the 6’10" retro egg tonight.

Take note that after the homeless were removed from the Waianae Boat Harbor area, a bunch of them have relocated to Oneula. Anyway, have fun at Oneula. Don’t forget Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Bay Feast on July 4th!

Dennis

Just back from beantown this tonight

The leg pain on the flights over and back was almost unbearable so no surfing or walking around for me…

But to amuse you guys I’ll bring down a sampling of all my silly equipment and fins to try out.

Looks like last weekend was the one for some decent surf though.

Just a heads up from a 30+ year resident’s knowledge of this break

Tides gonna be bad…

10AM-Noon will be the best

otherwise we’re talking about max high at 2PM 2+ where as Ewa is best on a rising +1.

Gonna be hard to find anywaves unless there’s a swell.

The best +2 tide break on this side is whiteplains but that’s serious waikiki wall to wall beginners action in the water.

Something to think about…
