Bill Hamilton …STYLE master .
Laird Hamilton …fearless master
Chip,
Back in the late eighties we would take some soft foam and cut out scull and bat images then dip it in the acrylic paint and dab it on the shaped blank. They looked
cool then, but now?

hahahhhh
…classic !
[weren’t the '80s awful ?!]

Chipfish:
That would be Cleanlines, he outlined several of these techniques in the Master Glasser DVD. He did a nice marblized finish on a sanded hotcoat with a light spray misting of acrylic auto paint from a small spray can. Use laquer thinner and a lightly dipped brush to splatter the surface of the painted areas while still wet. An old beater board that has been sanding to 320 would make a great test palette.

Foam color:
Rails- Matte medium with naphthol crimson and black gesso.
Deck- Matte medium and a mixed yellow.
A combination of spraying, sponge blotting and blending.
Pins sprayed on Sanded hotcoat.
Photo taken before gloss.
Howzit chip, Not sure if I have any pics of any of the sponge jobs I did, did a lot for a while but always forget to take pics and lately I have been doing pics but I'm having problems getting them out of the camera and in to the computer. I think my USB cable is bad since every time I hook the camera to the computer I get a message about no connection. Need to get a card reader. One thing I like doing with sponge work is to do 2 colors which will over lap in spots and then I get 3 colors. Like do red then blue and where they over lap it turns purple when I laminate.Aloha,Kokua
thanks guys , that’s GREAT !
Please , anyone who has photos …keep 'em coming !!
cheers !

…I wish we got that “master glassers” series here in woz , on region-free dvd !
Hey Chipfish ,
My wife did a killer job painting the bathroom. She did a sponge affect using yellow and orange. Like Kokua says you get a third color where everything overlaps. Never thought about doing a surfboard this way. I think its a good idea.
More photos please
